Why did he leave her after the kiss in the car??
I thought they were already somewhat an item? They were already hooking up. Did I miss something?
Thanks

She was being conned. Her part was already built-in ahead of time, and she was selected for it after her run-in with Will Smith at the restaurant. She was the "little blind mouse" the WHOLE time.
shareNicky was taught by his father to never become emotionally involved with anyone in their line of business. He'd got involved with Jess, but figured that continuing the relationship in increasingly complex schemes might endanger her.🐭
He'd got involved with Jess, but figured that continuing the relationship in increasingly complex schemes might endanger her.ha! THAT, indeed is apparently the point of the story: That [Marsh]Mallow Nicky, was/would be too soft (or in love) to do what his 'father' would do/does in the ultimate crunch situation... i.e. when your scam is unraveling in front of a dangerous and angry 'victim': Shoot your partner.

I agree that Nicky thought continuing a relationship with Jess after the Super Bowl would complicate things and could end up endangering her, but I think there was more to it than that. Another reason I think he left was to prove to himself and anyone else that he wasn't soft like his father said he was.
shareIt's the same reason that Robert DeNiro talks about in Heat. Never get attached to anyone that you can't leave behind, when you feel the heat is coming. (I'm paraphrasing)
So as soon as he realized that he was beginning to have feelings for her, he split because of his profession.
