Why did she have diarrhea?

Surely her stomach would be upset and she would have to vomit, but why would she have diarrhea?

reply

It wasn't just a case of being seasick. IIRC the food was spoiled or maybe worse (botulism, eg). The server in the dining area alludes to the fact that she has been perhaps the only one brave enough to try the lamb(?). So it's hitting her at both ends.

reply

Perhaps it was Norovirus.

reply

Maybe it was just crappy food. In the book she vomits instead of having diarrhea because of the storm the boat hits (that's why the boat seems shaky after she gets into her room)

LMAO

Hey, Soldier. Do you know who's in command here?

she had eaten a big plate of rich food, has that never happened to anyone??

I was surprised to see that kind of scene in this movie, it seems more like a Scary Movie type of thing. I just wish it had been done sexier instead of blink-and-miss-it.

reply

You wanted a sexy food poisoning and seasickness scene? Alrighty then.

Her roommate on the ship said she had been kicked out of first class just for visiting there. Thee were rigid class distinctions on passenger ships. That's why steerage class was left to die on the Titanic while first class was saved.

She was traveling on the cheapest ticket and class possible. I imagine the food was slop. Greasy food like mutton will make you vomit but I imagine the other food was contaminated and the dishes half way washed.

Here's an ideal hotty on a potty in a similar context:

lol...really!

I've been seasick (in the Navy). There's vomiting, but it can come out of either end or even both at once (you carry around a garbage bag for the vomiting).

When my Dad was shipped out to England they all got sick from eating lamb.
Stabilizers on ships were not as effective as they are now. it has to be pretty fierce for us on a cruise ship today to get seasick. You eat lamb on a ship in the forties or fifties and you are out to sea for the first time - you will be sick - at both ends.

The North Atlantic gets rough weather in some parts of the year. Just ask the people on the Titanic.
