I am not from the era the movie takes place in but I did go to Catholic School. I thought it might be incorrect for the time period that the wedding service was in English. I know that Catholic weddings involve a Catholic mass and Catholic masses were in Latin until the Second Vatican Council in 1964. So maybe the church did the vows in English and the rest of the service in Latin? Does someone know more about this?

I believe you're right. The mass would have been in Latin.

You're correct. Latin Mass with English vows. I speak from experience having been an altar boy at many of my Irish cousins' weddings in the late 50s/ early 60s.
