James Bond Rankings
I am in the process of revamping my Bond rankings but I think this is where I stand as of now:
10/10:
01. Goldfinger - Classic
02. For Your Eyes Only - Underrated Classic
03. Skyfall - Doesn't have my favorite action sequences, villain or Bond girl but I just love it, my only complaint is the gunbarrel
04. From Russia With Love
05. Casino Royale - This would be Top 3 material if they hadn't screwed up the gunbarrel, there are some things you just don't mess with
06. Thunderball
07. The Spy Who Loved Me
08. Licence To Kill
09. Live And Let Die
9/10:
10. Dr. No - Limited budget kills this film
11. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Would easily be a 10/10 if they had edited down the sequence where Bond is impersonating Bray, Lazenby obviously doesn't have the acting ability to play a character impersonating another character and dubbing him over with George Baker was a horrible decision, that entire segment could have been edited down from 30 minutes to 10 minutes
8/10:
12. Die Another Day - I'm sorry I just have a soft spot for this film and I love that they threw something in there for the dedicated fans. Yes the kite surfing was dumb, you will never hear me defend that but DAD is just a really entertaining film and the ridiculous concepts aren't exactly a foreign thing to the James Bond franchise.
13. You Only Live Twice - Dumb movie but is saved by an amazing final battle sequence
14. A View To A Kill - Same thing as YOLT, plus it has one of the greatest scores in the whole franchise, this is very much a guilty pleasure for me. And the scene where May Day sacrifices herself was so badass.
15. Goldeneye - I'm just going to say this I don't know what all the fuss is about, it's a good movie of course but I've heard some say it's Top 3 material and it's nowhere close. It's just your run of the mill, over the top spy film about a killer lazer satellite which if I'm not mistaking has already been done (cough cough Diamonds are Forever cough). Also Bond, Trevelyn and Q were the only good characters in this whole thing, I do not like Natalya, I do not like Xenia, I do not like Boris, I do not like Wade, I do not like Auromov (sp), I do not like M, I do not like Moneypenny, I do not like Defense Minister Dmitri Mishkin, and you see where I'm going with this.
7/10
16. Spectre - My main issue with this film is they felt they had to tie it in to all of the previous Craig films and they really didn't, it could have stood on its own
17. The World Is Not Enough - Denise Richards kills this film but overall it's a good plot just with a not so great execution and the stunts are just completely ridiculous
18. Octopussy - I do not like the India sequence but the East Germany sequence is actually really good and I enjoy it. I love it when Bond gets revenge for 009's death.
19. Tomorrow Never Dies
20. The Man With The Golden Gun - Dumb movie but saved by a very good climactic duel with Scarimanga
21. The Living Daylights (I really don't think this is a bad movie, in fact it's a good movie just there's nothing really memorable about it, and I'm sorry I cannot stand the soundtrack to this film.
2/10:
22. Moonraker (I want to make this abundantly clear that there is a HUGE drop in quality between The Living Daylights and Moonraker) - This film is scientifically absurd, it's just ridiculous, it could have at least been a fun kind of bad but instead it was just boring.
1/10:
23. Quantum Of Solace - I HATE this movie, it felt like recycled footage from Casino Royale and it tried WAY TOO HARD to pay tribute to the Jason Bourne films, that choppy editing and those pretentious location cards really grind my gears.
0/10:
24. Diamonds Are Forever - Stupid, stupid film, unnecessarily confusing and once you figure out what's going on you realize how dumb this film is. I have nothing positive to say.
