Why did Bond, flying the airplane, open fire --

-- on the SUV transporting Madeleine as it was speeding down an icy mountain road?

One of his bullets could have hit her, or -- just as tragically -- caused the driver to have an accident that would kill all the passengers, including Madeleine.

-- "airplane chicken" wouldn't end up incinerating Madeleine as well??

What was he thinking, exactly? Something like, "I am going to ram this airplane into these three SUVs and hope that Madeleine -- and I -- both emerge unscathed?"

Was that Bond's plan?

Exactly. Unfortunately, this is the approach to the majority of Craig's action sequences, save for SF and one or two in QOS. They lack any sense of strategic thinking or wit which should shape Bond action sequences.

Yeah, the whole movie disappointed me. Which is a shame because it could've been wonderful. They had what appeared to be an unlimited budget. A great crew. Terrific actors. In short, they had all the ingredients necessary to make a fine and memorable film -- except a story.

I think this movie cost in excess of $200 million.

GOLDFINGER cost 3 million, yet is worth 100 SPECTRES.
