My favourite Bond villain was Silva. When he told M how he felt abandoned by M when she turned him over to the Chinese, and even though he was tortured for five months without breaking, it sounded to me that his actions were the cry of an abandoned child. This didn't excuse the violent actions he committed, but I had a hard time hating him.
