The more I think about this movie...

....the more I dislike it, and the more pissed off I get.

What the hell happened to James Bond?

It's like he's been neutered. After watching this movie I suddenly had the urge to watch Goldeneye again. I thought Casino Royale was amazing. And then all of a sudden, Quantum of Solace comes out and the movies are completely forgettable.

Where is the fun and excitement? The unique characters? The cool gadgets? And where the hell is the confident, suave, cold blooded killer that is James Bond?

This Bond is way too serious. I don't think this movie gets anything right. Even the opening title song is weird, its about a romantic involvement with James and another woman, but where is the romance? They screw after that ridiculous fight on the train? That quickly into the movie? Theres barely character development or sexual tension beforehand.

Daniel Craig is a walking suit. No personality. He casually talks to Q while driving in the car being chased by Bautista. But barely anything happens. Daniel Craig doesn't seem concerned, so why should I be? Yawn.

Cool opening sequence in the helicopter...but then...nothing else. We're not allowed to have fun here, everything is super serious. The movie does an excellent job of building an atmosphere of tension, but barely anything happens. James Bond doesnt seem to really care. An action movie with no action. Yawn.

The villain is the "author of all of his pain." What a number they did on Blofeld. Yawn.

Why is James Bond being moralized? James Bond is the ultimate male fantasy, its a very simple concept. But I guess men in the West now are not allowed to have anything remotely masculine. Masculine action movies a thing of the past.

What a shame. And why the hell is Craig still doing this role? He's WAY TOO OLD. As they say, it's a "young man's game." Please let's put him to rest now.

Take a look at THIS SCENE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InWhPtZ9hOo

Scenes like this just don't exist anymore.

I miss Pierce Brosnan.

Yeah, more on the awesome side.

What no man Can give ya. And none Can take away.

I see what you mean but even though all the Daniel Craig era Bond films are serious with no fun and excitement, I feel like Spectre is the first one with the "fun" element at least. Speaking of where are the cool gadgets Spectre had the Aston Martin DB10 with the flamethrower and also the watch with the alarm which is "rather loud." Also the did bring the Roger Moore type humour back in Spectre so yeah. Overall the fun elements were back in Spectre but it was still too serious. Hopefully the producers bring the fun and excitement 100% when the next Bond actor comes along. what I'm saying basically is I hope the next Bond actor's films aren't dark and serious.

Forgive me but you can't honestly think that SPECTRE is a return to the fun escapist tone of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and GOLDFINGER.

SPECTRE has the same dark, solemn, angsty tone of all the recent Bonds...

-- but boy do I wish they'd turn the clock back to the fun, escapist tone of the good old days.

reply

I admit that Spectre is not the fun escapist tone of those Bond classics but u have to admit that Spectre is the most fun in the Daniel Craig era.

reply

This movie is a turd.

There is only 1 good Craig movie and that is Casino Royale. The rest are completely forgettable.

reply

-- is the most fun we've seen in the Craig era. But the last hour is awful.

CASINO ROYALE, while not exactly escapist and "fun" in the classic EON manner, is still a terrific movie and far and away the greatest Bond of the last 25 years. Maybe more.

reply

Lol Skyfall was more fun in tone and theme then Spectre was. Spectre never had a scene that made just go WOW that was great. Maybe the opening scene, but that's it. Casion Royale had a ton of them.

reply

I agree the casino royale was far and away the best Daniel Craig bond movie, but the tone was still serious, angsty, and dark. Nothing at all like Goldfinger, which is still, you'll pardon the expression, the gold standard of bond movies.

reply

I like Brosnan better than Craig as well but I think this film is great fun.
