Ditch Craig and bring back the old school Bond vibe

This dark, depressed, boring, poker-faced, sad CraigBond needs to go. We have enough of that in.........EVERY OTHER FILM!

Bring back the camp, hot women, intrigue, fun, class, etc...

The silliness of Bond plots only works when it has the right vibe.

The predictable (yet fun) nonsense of a villain setting up a trap/game for Bond to cleverly squirm out of in the last few seconds ONLY works in a campy/fun environment.

Come on.....bring back the right actor for a classy, martini-drinking Bond having sex with amazing women, while doing things that don't make any sense in a campy plot that makes less sense. THAT was fun of it all.

And btw....the casting of Moneypenny and Q is also a TOTAL failure. Fix that!

I understand what u mean but in my opinion I felt that Spectre was the return of the campy Bond even though it did have its dark depressing moments. But yeah hopefully the next Bond actor brings the silliness camp stuff back to Bond films. Basically the next actor Bond actor's films shouldn't be dark at all.

It isn't the actor who sets the tone, it's the producers, and they want the Bond franchise to have the same tone as other action franchise like the BOURNE movies, Nolan's BATMAN movies, BATMAN vs. SUPERMAN, most Marvel movies, etc.

That is to say, they want today's Bond movies to be more serious than GOLDFINGER was, because that's what today's audiences want.

Which really, really sucks.

reply

Verily I say unto thee..audiences don't know what they want nowadays and accept anything that is thrown at them.

reply

And I'd point out that producers of billion dollar franchises are almost invariably slaves to the zeitgeist, because they can't afford not to be.

So if broody and solemn is "in" right now -- or at least, *perceived* to be "in" -- then that is the Bond you'll be getting next year.

reply

I agree, except I think Whishaw is great as Q.

I'm not sure if you are serious or not when you say "bring back the camp"

I say if you are going to write the next bond film or cast the next bond, watch FRWL and Goldfinger, for what to do, and diamonds are forever and NSNS for what not to do. Watch TSWLM for what to do and Moonraker for what not to do. Watch goldeneye for what to do and die another day for what not to do

The four films I mention are all FUN and have Bond being himself and having fun. No self-loathing, no talking about being an orphan, quitting his job, etc. The others are too silly to take seriously and the camp Distracted

Bond is not batman and he is not a twilight character. He is fun and exciting, not dangerous and moody.

Connery and Moore captured that best. Dalton took himself too seriously, Brosnan came across too much as a man-child in later movies instead of a real man with boyish charms.

He is fun and exciting, not dangerous and moody

So, you've never read the original novels, eh?

Send her to the snakes!

reply

Actually I had a typo - it was supposed to say not depressed and moody, Bond is usually portrayed as the most dangerous man in the room, after all....

I've read most of the novels and you are definitely correct - bond is certainly not a happy cartoon character. I was talking about the Bond of those popular films

We live in a different era. Very few people, especially the younger generation, are interested in seeing a cornball Bond shooting lazer beams out of his watch, driving invisible cars, or saving the world from a guy with a secret lair on the moon. Wanting to return to that kind of Bond is Iike wanting a new Batman movie where he uses crap like "Shark repellant spray" and is wearing blue spandex.
