I love you?

Are you *beep* kidding me? She's known him what like 3 damn days. I didn't think this movie could get any cheesier or have more cliches. UGH

Worst thing ever! Especially when you add in the stupid lyrics with "bond" not being able to breathe because he's suffocating without her lol and even worse when he "risks it all" and gives everything up to be with her. I mean, hell, she's definitely a fine piece of ..... but gtfoh, there was literally no chemistry between them to illustrate such a strong "love".

I don't think we're supposed to take Sam Smith's lyrical ramblings that he supposedly came up with in half an hour as canon. I agree they didn't have just a whole lot of chemistry, I thought it was at least enough to carry the average movie though. I think there's been worse chemistry in Bond films past but this film really needed good chemistry to work well. But like the rest of the movie it doesn't quite live up to the potential. I think it's OK though, but a lot of missed opportunities a few annoying plot choices and just not a very strong installment. But it has some cool moments. As for Bond falling in love, I can buy it. He's a lonely guy and she's almost as dysfunctional as he is. It doesn't take him too long to fall for Tracy in OHMSS, or Vesper in Casino Royale.

HAHA true, but the lyrics of every song are in theory, trying to tell us about what we are going to experience or what additional things we should look for in regards to story/subtext/etc. And it does make sense, as we are SUPPOSED to buy that this LOVE is strong enough to make James move on from his life as a 00.

Agreed on all accounts. And it did have cool moments, every bond film does, it's just a real shame that IMO, all its shortcomings overpower what was good.

I think I could buy it a bit more with better chemistry, but the real problem is the constant reminders of Vesper and the poor "connected story" aspect. We already saw how important vesper was to him in two out of the four "parts" of the story so If Craig is shown pics and has to relive what he went through in CR/QOS, you would think that would play into any sort of NEW love, right? But it doesn't. Bond seemingly doesn't give a *beep* about her anymore, ya know?> And for me, that just doesn't work and it makes the falling in love crap just that, crap.

Yeah, it seemed like another missed opportunity. They were reminding us of Vesper, Bond was being reminded of her, and it really didn't amount to much except act as ammo for Blofeld to taunt Bond with. Which he doesn't really react to much. And here we have an interesting twist where the Bond girl is the daughter of the man who was responsible for driving Vesper to her suicide and apparently interrogating (probably torturing her), and Bond never even brings it up. You might think that when she was treating him like dog-sh!t, talking to him like a hobo and acting as if he was some sort of lackey for her father that he might consider bring up some of these facts. But instead he rather boringly tries to protect her feelings for her father or something and talk the guy up and omit their real history together. They could have had a much more interesting relationship if they'd addressed some of these things, and therefore a more interesting overall Bond movie. I don't think it turns the love story to crap it just makes it more boring than it should be when it could have pretty much written itself.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said, and ok, maybe not "crap" but still, the constant reminders and hell, even similar set up sequences (like the train scene) just keep throwing Vesper in our face only to show us Bond not even caring one bit. Oh Mr. White, you helped kill her, and almost killed M, and Me, but hey, you're just some lonely hired assassin like me so let me give you some respect and one last dying wish to take care of your daughter!

This is why I wish they didn't connect the stories, if you cant do it right, just leave it alone.

Cliches. In Bond films.

There are a lot of women (including myself) who would have no problem falling in love with Daniel Craig's Bond three days after we met.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.

This movie was a mess, and this was just one of many messy aspects.

And I love the movie for that.
