Terrible

1) not scary...at all. Actually, mostly I was laughing. I actually went in thinking I would be scared. Only time I jumped slightly was when the actors were scared by the fat, ugly cat.
2) unoriginal. Every scene and line in the movie has been done and redone and done again.
3) had no identity- had absolutely no idea what it wanted to be. Was this a horror film ? A cop drama? Supernatural exorcism flick? Torture fest? Family drama? Nope just a bad movie.
4) total overuse of sound effects and bad score. Not surprising for this type of film. But this relied on it way too much. Gag
5) ugh

I think the film could have been much better if it would have been more of a crime drama rather than your typical horror style film with "sudden things" to make you jump. Although, mixing crime drama and horror is somewhat of a unique take on the horror genre, it just didn't work in this film. But again, this is essentially what the movie is about, it's based on real life experiences of the main character, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie. So, I guess the film kind of does this well but still, it has way too many cliche horror elements to make it seem unique or different than the hundreds of horror films we're already seen.

Well said, Martina, that's pretty much everything I came here to say. At certain points I was wondering if I was watching some parody that I didn't get. The "crazy" lady is what made me want to laugh the most. Most of the dialogue seems as if it was written by some kid who's seen lots of movies.

I had a ticket for A Hard Day's Night right afterward at the same theater and left early so I could get a good seat for that. I don't know how DUFE ended, and don't care.

How old are you?
1) Who gets scared of movies anyway? A jump scene when something just blurts out of nowhere isn't really more shock than scary.
2) Nothing is original nowadays. Name one movie made this year that was original
3) Why not a supernatural torturefest that happens to have a cop in it? What is wrong with that?
4) To each his own
5) What is ugh?

I understand that ideas are going to be recycled. But every single modern horror movie follows the same exact formula as the last. (within its boundaries of the type of film it wants to be-- slasher, supernatural, exorcism, home invasion, paranormal, etc.)
It's exhausting to keep looking forward to an interesting, potentially scary horror movie, only to realize that you've seen the movie 10 times before, just with slight differences.
I've not even seen this particular film yet- but I can already predict 90% of the movie based on other reviews.

I wouldn't say it was terrible but it wasn't too good. I would give it a C-.

Totally agree on all points that OP makes, but I dont agree with movie_addictOZ who says Sinister was bad cause it really wasnt, that is the only horror flick the past 25 years who made some kinda impact on me, it wasnt scary as hell but it was disturbing in a scary way and I liked that, not many horror flicks could do that today...and definitely not this turd fest called Deliver us from evil...but Sinister worked pretty well and so did Exorcism of Emily Rose who is one of the absolute best possession horror flicks ever made, not to scary but very atmosperhic and well acted.
