shareAnyone?
shareIt's a different type of movie from Sinister and Insidious, combining police thriller with supernatural elements, taken as that it is an effective movie. Bana is good and the plot is engaging. There's a few creepy moments just don't go in expecting Sinister.
shareit feels more like 8mm than sinister or insidious, doens't it?

I thought Sinister was a brilliant film and I was surprised that this was made by the same people because it's really not very good. I jumped once in the entire movie and they're all cheap jump scares. There were a few moments that were clearly there to gross the audience out but they weren't that bad. The ideas for the film were good and there were parts of it that were really interesting but the interesting parts seemed to get pushed to the side and it continued on as quite a generic movie.
Of course, that's just my opinion and you might end up completely disagreeing but I would say I don't think it's worth paying to see at the cinema.
'You people. If there isn't a movie about it, it's not worth knowing, is it?'
I stopped reading your post after you said you thought Sinister was brilliant. Um, no.
shareOh sorry, I thought this was a discussion forum where we could express our own opinions. My mistake.

You're classy. :)
Keep posting, your passion is evident.
Oh thank you very much! I love coming on here and discussing movies and tv shows but I do get annoyed when someone acts like their opinion is the only one that matters. I don't mind when someone has a different opinion to me and I'm always interested in hearing why the did or didn't like it but I don't like it when someone's rude about it and acts like they're the only one with a worthy point of view! Rudeness in general annoys me!

i agree with your assesment, i felt this was a rehash of recent exorcism movies, none of them original, this made me jum like 3 times, but it was because i was startled by the sudden loud noise not scared, in fact i was bored since i figured where it was going right off the bat, plus exorcisms havent been scary since the exorcist, also i felt that eric bana who is great when he wants to (chopper, time travelers wife) was just phoning this in.
compare to sinister, which with its faults, was a pleasant surprise, and a genuine creepy article that stayed with you.
Haha don't let it get to you. Anyone who lacks the key understanding of film being subjective won't be able to effectively reflect upon a movie or provide much perspective
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
I thought Sinister was fantastic. I also loved The Conjuring. I think those two are the best horror films I've seen in the last few years. I can't actually remember any horrors I enjoyed as much. I agree with you on Deliver Us From Evil though... The end was nice, but I didn't really enjoy it very much.
shareSinister is a brilliant horror flick if you compare it to this joke of a movie...this aint even horror...this is like scary movie 15 in standard. Sinister aint brilliant if you compare it with shawshank redemption but it was so well made in the distrubing part that it made it a really good horror flick, DUFE is just some random cut togheter scenes with no plot at all...and its riddled with lame cliches...
~If the realistic details fails, the movie fails~
It's wild how people will see the same movie, and walk away with impressions that run the entire gamut.
Fox, your way of saying this movie didn't quite do it for you was about as diplomatic as one could possibly be. YOU are the perfect person to discuss movies with.
Even though this was one of my favorite movies ever (I liked how it had a Silence of the Lambs 'feel' to it)... it's interesting to hear from those who walked away with quite the opposite impression.
I actually like the first two thirds of the movie the best. I kinda wish they had kept with the police theme all the way through, but with the teamwork with the priest. And as for exorcism scenes, to me they've become nothing more than a means to an end.
All the same, ive watched this a few times now. Still ranks way up there on my list.
Did you see it already? I loved Sinister and Insidious 2 and thought this was a good movie. However, IMO it's more of a thrillerish movie with some horror elements than a horror movie in itself. I guess what can really make of break the film for you is where you stand in regards to the God/Devil dilemma.
sharePoly... great point.
I keep seeing posts about the scares and the jumps and how this wasn't that scary.
I didn't go into this one expecting a horror movie, but a blended movie. Maybe that has a lot to do with not only peoples' expectations, but who ends up seeing it in the first place, and then rating it and posting about it.
i thought DELIVER was pretty good! it has some genuinely creepy and interesting moments in it. the possessed main guy was actually VERY creepy/scary. this isn't as freaky as SINISTER or like the first half of INSIDIOUS (the 2nd half...the "other world" or whatever sucked) but DELIVER has an overall creepy atmosphere to it. i gave this movie a 7.

I rated all three of them 10 , but really insidious should be 8 , sinister 9 and Deliver Us from Evil would be 12
shareI think Insidious is among the best mainstream horrors nowadays. Sinister is pretty awesome too. Deliver is not that good, but has it's moments, so if you liked those movies, you should watch this one too.
If Insidious is 10, then Sinister is 9, and Deliver is 6-7
