Deployment goof
One of the characters was arrested "between" deployments. That wouldn't happen. If you're arrested you cannot carry a weapon and that would make you unable to deploy.
Even if you are wrongly arrested and later cleared of charges? I don't know the rules which is why I ask.
We have a had people who entered the military even after having a criminal record previously -- sometimes they were given the option (forced) of joining the military as part of their sentence or probation rather than jail, although I think that was long ago before we had a volunteer force -- so I just wondered how that worked.
From what I understand, even in the volunteer force, some criminals can still enlist after they have completed their sentence. I suppose it all depends on what the crime they committed was.
