What happened to the guy that was possessed? I'm pretty sure demonic possession is not a valid legal defense. Is he on death row?

shareAnd, I hate the promoters who use false claims of "based on a true story/true events" to hype a movie.
I like to watch films that are based on true events even though they are most often not actually "true to" the true story they are based on and it ticks me off when a movie is hyped as based on true events/inspired by true events, etc. when there is no truth to that statement -- just something that irks me but it seems to be used a lot lately to market films.
Thanks for pointing that out, though. I had not gotten to the trivia section and was wondering how true to life the story actually was. I am not a believer in much of the paranormal stuff that is put into films and shows but I know the people who are involved in some of these "real life events" believe it to be true. I just like to see how they sometimes interpret what they have observed or think they observed to write about these things.
I have close family members who are true believers in the paranormal and in spirits/ghosts, demons etc. and I tend to think the people who really believe in this stuff have a reason to be true believers. But, I find it hard to comprehend exactly what they may have seen or heard to make them become true believers. Sorry for rambling on....I am done now.
The film doesn't say it's based on a true story.
It says it's INSPIRED BY actual accounts, which it is.
