I'm new to this show. I was told it's G.O.T. on the water...
Is that accurate? I'm into episode 1 and it seems just OK.
Thanks for the advice!

No it is its own show and a great one at that. It starts getting really good around episode 5 and never dips in quality, keep watching!
shareIt's very political, in terms of focus, and process. All the characters are smart, and they scheme, and those schemes usually end in violence. That's the only way the comparison is apt. It also gets pretty epic, but it's still just about a handful of pirates, anchored to one location, you can't expect toppled empires and fire breathing dragons. - Not that I know why you would, I'm just saying, check your expectations before you come out of it thinking it's overrated. Trust me, it's very underrated.

There's no such thing as the establishment. Everyone knows that!
This has nothing to do with GOT which is a fantasy series. This is partly historical, partly invented but some of the characters are real historical figures. It's an absolutely great show with wonderful actors. I'm very sorrry this is the last season. Forget about GoT and Just enjoy it.
BTW, I'm a GoT fan myself.
I WILL NEVER GIVE UP!
Thank you all for your advice!
I really appreciate it and will enjoy this series for sure.
If I was going to compare I would say it's more like sons of anarchy on the ocean, but I suggest you just watch it for what it is. The only comparison I would make to GoT is stunning sets.
shareIt's real easy to make the comparison to GOT.
Both can have brutal violence, sword play, lots of sex scenes, political intrigue, lots of talking. Both sort of retell history, but GOT funnels it through the wickedly brilliant mind of GRRM. So its story lines a little more powerful than BS.
Not as expansive as GOT obviously, but does what it can with its limited locations and is still super entertaining.
QUESTION:
What attracted you to the show so late? Was it the new Sunday time slot?
I was just looking for a new series to watch. I have a long way to go before I watch it on Sundays.
Thanks again for the info!
