(Or are we supposed to hate Underhill because he had slaves? Not sure.)
If either Max or Eleanor dies, there's going to be such celebration among the fans.
Actually, I think we WERE supposed to hate Underhill in earlier seasons, because frankly he kind of sucked IIRC. The scene in 4.02 before the pirates arrived I think was meant to round him out as a character- he's taking care of his sick wife, he's joking around with his daughter, etc.- and make us worry for him and for what's to come. I actually think the show does a pretty good job of rounding out its villains, even minor ones. (I know that wasn't the main point of your comment, just putting it out there).
