There might be a way to have the boards continue: write a hard-copy letter [not an email] to Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon [parent co of IMDb] and remonstrate. If you own AMZN stock, either personally or through a mutual fund, mention that also.
For all we know Bezos isn't even in the loop about cxl the ms boards, just a business decision an underling made. All you'll lose is a few mins to type the letter + 49 ¢ for the stamp. At least you'll be able to vent yr frustration & flood Bezos' office w irate mail. If you like the idea, copy & paste this throughout other movies' ms boards and spread the word.
