The way they killed off Blackbeard was so shtty, it's an insult to the..

Character of Edward Blackbeard Teach to end him like that. He should have died in battle like he did in history. Blackbeard was slain by Robert Maynard, not Woodes Rogers. I can't believe they killed off Charles Vane first. Blackbeard was the first of the famous pirates to die. As much as I enjoy Blacksails, it was so many historical inaccuracies. Hornigold,Blackbeard and Vane were all pretty much the same age being born around 1680. And Charles didn't even die in Nassau, he was hanged in Port Royal, both him and Jack Rackham.

I could accept Vane being hanged in Nassau, but not this. I though Blackbeard would be shot right there and die in battle, just like he did in real life. The change of location would not have bothered me. But the whole thing is silly, that entire scene makes for the worst writing in the entire show....

1. Experienced man like Teach would see that the hull was low, in other words, that there is weight in the hull, and would not have fallen for the trap.

2. Grenades would have been thrown into the ship

3. His character, as shown in this show, would not have surrendered.

4. Rackham was a coward, but wasn't stupid. He would have negotiated rather than surrendered. Governor was going nowhere, he already lost, and all Rackham had to do was sail away or annihilate governor's ship.

5. The crew - who most likely had no respect for Rackham - would have never surrendered. They might have loved Teach, some might have feared him, but none of them would have surrendered for no reason. They would have just shot Jack and killed the governor.

6. To top it all off, the torture scene is brutal and unbelievable too, and it seems they did all these things listed in points 1-5, just so they can show off the brutality.

It could have been, and should have been handled differently, and there is no excuse for this lazy writing. I'll re-rate the show after this

I agree with most of what you said, but I think the reason that Jack wasn't willing to fire on the ship was because Anne was on it.

Agreed, gents.

It's like they tried to make Blackbeard appear weak. They would have just let him go in the heat of battle, guess the guy who cut off his head was supposed to be Maynard.

Yeah Jack was a coward, hell they could have later shown on the show, how he turns against Vane. Jack actually over throws Vane as Captain later on.

Pirates rarely sunk ships, didn't they? I mean, Blackbeard could have very well sunk that ship Rogers was on couldn't he?
