They killed him like that? Really? Seemed so anti-climatic for such a fearsome pirate, especially when you think of the way the real one died. I expected a more explosive end, like the captain (Toby Stephens brother in real life) had in Nassau.

shareI was kinda shocked too, for supposedly two of the smarter people on the show some dumb moves were made. There was absolutely NO reason they even needed to board that ship. They werent after plunder, just the governor, so blowing it to hell would have served just as well. Then Jack surrenders the ship, their best instrument to foil the governors plans. Oops. If the gov doesnt kill them, Flint should. Flint would not have made the same errors.

And yes the boarding was a rookie mistake. They should have seen that the ship is too silent before climbing on it. Obviously there should be more commotion since they didn't shoot at it that much, so why would they not expect a trap?
It's not like there are that many strategies during a ship fight...
They really messed up with blackbeard this whole series. They hardly used him

People what are you on - I thought that was the most gruesome ending to a main character I've ever seen. He was tied and bagged and pulled under the entire length of the boat, banging and mangling his body against rock hard barnacles. Imagine your flesh being violently ground against a jagged cheese grater - Black Beard had it ten fold worse! And he survived it like 4 times - the man wouldn't die! He just lifts his chewed up face and spits at Rogers feet. Come on that was bad ass!
That scene also shows that Rogers is a force the be reckoned with!
I agree with the posters who thought it was lame that Rackham surrenders the boat when he has the total advantage but I think Black Beard's fate was fitting a legend!
Seems like people wanted to see Blackbeard kill a hundred guys by himself before he died...it wasn't that kind of show. And the real life Blackbeard WAS killed after falling for a "dead bodies on the ship, but the English are hiding below" trick. He just wasn't keelhauled.
shareThat whole story, from the moment they caught up to Woods ship up to him shooting BB, was, for me at least, the weakest point of season 4 and I must attribute it to just plain lazy writing, absolutely anticlimactic. Season 4 in general felt weak, drown out and unnecessary (it all could have fit into an extended episode). Disappointing.
