this show really outdoes itself with intensely unlikable characters

so over the last few days ive been subjected to what was the most unenjoyable marathon of tv ive sat through in quite a long time

piper is this pretty blonde rich girl whos pretty and blonde and rich and uses her pretty blondeness to get her way and make everyone treat her special and like most pretty blonde girls lets it go to her head immediately. shes also one of the few characters who may have a tripple digit iq which is handy for all the times she mary sues her way through the story

then you have the inmates who almost all share the same personality with little variation: im tough and mean and possibly crazy. thats it. oh sure some are latino and some are dominican and some are black and so they hung around with criminals from different backgrounds but really like 3/4 of the characters in this show have exactly the same personality

then theres sophia who seems to only be in the show to pander to transgender people. i get it life sucks for her in prison in a way that is unique to her but its not exactly riviting storytelling when the overwhelming majority of her storylines are exactly the same. we know your transgender and people treat you like crap but maybe do something or get into a single conversation that isnt all about that. it was like 2 seasons before any of her stories where about anything besides her sexuality. by the time things go really to hell for her you barely care anymore cause youve been desensitised by hearing the same thing for 30 episodes

and dogget season 1 and 2: "jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus jesus"

yeah... entertaining...

and the guys... who wrote this show anyways? angry teenagers from tumblr? theres what 20 men in the show and about 18 of them are rapists or sexual offenders and almost all completely unlikable clowns in one way or another

that fat guard from first couple seasons was prob the only male guard i can think of that wasnt a walking talking lawsuit/lifetime prison sentence waiting to happen

i get it, its a show about bad people in prison but not every single person in prison is a lunatic gang banging social reject.

there where such a small number of inmates who were in there for non violent crimes and a couple of them seemed nice enough but even most of them where just unlikable horrible people. even ones like soso who wouldnt hurt anyone where made to be as annoying as possible (though she gets way better in season 4)

whole thing just feels like awful fan fiction from hateful teenagers
