Bad case of reshoots/studio interference.
If you check one of the reviews for the film, it's an extra going in depth about how much the movie changed after filming.
Also, a trip to the full cast/crew of the film reveals there was additional photography done on the film, most likely to try and change a bunch of plot elements. Reshoots aren't ALWAYS bad, but 9.5/10 times they are.
Seems like we have a case of a film similar to 2014's OUIJA, where the entire film was essentially canned and reshot due to test screenings and studio interference.
