How Ben thinks of 'Live by Night'

While watching the press tour for 'The Accountant', i came across a Good Morning Britain interview were Ben discusses 'Live by Night'. This is what he had to say; "Live by Night is a movie that i directed, that is sort of a love letter to the old Warner Brother gangster type movies of old, the 70's movies when blockbusters were movies like Dr Shavargo and Reds and had a lot of extras and costumes..."

This gets me more excited and has me thinking that the film will indeed surpass a three hour run time. If you want the interview it is here; https://youtu.be/oveVfrAUbpU?t=6m20s and it will start from the point he begins discussing 'Live by Night'.

My boy's wicked smart.

He's speaking my language. Glad to hear it.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

But...Doctor Zhivago is from 1965. And it's a movie much more in line with the 1950's epics than anything from the 1970s.

reply

I think you know what he means.

My boy's wicked smart.

reply

Cool tidbit. I still don't think the theatrical cut will be more than 3 hours. Maybe an extended cut like The Town.

reply

I am eagerly looking forward to this movie as well, all of Ben Affleck's films so far have been excellent. The Town and Argo had extended cuts on DVD/Blu-ray so I guess there might be a possibility that Live by Night gets the same treatment if Ben's preferred cut is too long and needs trimming.

reply

Yeah, that's what I think will happen. Because he's said in an interview before that he doesn't want the film to be too long. So an extended cut is very possible.
