Looks good. I'm happy it's the final trailer!

reply

I agree it looks like a really a well crafted, dramatic and full on crime film.

reply

Yeah let's hope it's great. It's been a long time since I've seen a good gangster movie. The last one was probably American Gansgter as Gangster Squad was disappointing.

I'm glad its the final trailer as well, and that a lot of the footage is reused or simply expanded upon from the first trailer. The new stuff looks great however, as does the dialogue.

My boy's wicked smart.

The dialogue is always great in Afflecks directed movies. I really liked the line "so what am I talking to you for". I'm rewatching all the 3 before Live by Night and I saw Gone Baby Gone yesterday and dialogue in that was great.

While I am gung ho for a new gangster film, there's just something in my gut that tells me this just may be Affleck's misfire.

He's great and so are his films but this one felt off to me for some reason. Anyone else feel that when watching the trailers?

reply

Not really. The trailer focuses a lot on action and little dialogue which is a good thing. It's not like these trailers are the best iv seen, but they are perfect in the sense that they don't give much away like the big blockbuster movie trailers do.

I actually remember watching the trailer for the town before the film came out and this was before I was a movie fan like I am now, I thought that Trailer was a typical action bang bang movie, but when I saw it I was soo impressed by how good it was. So maybe ur not impressed by the trailer but don't count the film out yet.

reply

I have to agree with you. I think the last trailer was better but the first one really makes it look like a cheap action romp. It looks awfully digital as well but I have faith in Affleck. Last time he adapted Dennis Lehane material it turned to gold and whenever his stories start in Boston, it generally turns out great. He seems like he's really in tune with his hometown.

"so what am I talking to you for"

Yes! I loved that line. It was my favorite part of the trailer.

I feel the opposite. Looks like another Oscar potential film by Affleck. Dude knows what he is doing.

reply

Man I can't wait for this!

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.
