This doesn't look very good from the trailer

It doesn't look actively bad, but it just comes off as bland. Nothing gripping about this - not the performances, cinematography, costumes, etc.

And even though he's been pretty smart about his acting choices in the past 10 years, Affleck doesn't really fit here. He looks like someone wearing a costume, not like someone from that time period.

And with a budget of 110 million dollars - this can be a big time flop if the movie is not amazing.

I hope that's not the case, because after BvS, this would be another step back for Affleck and his rebounding career.

To each his own but regarding BVS, I'd say that was an extra boost since he was the best received thing about that movie and is making his very own Batman film now.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

I thought it looked great, from the dialogue to the cinematography. Affleck hasn't misfired any of his directorial efforts, this looks to be another success. I don't think the budget has been confirmed, has it?

He has the accountant coming out which is receiving a lot of praise from those who have seen advanced screenings, the embargo is still up so i'm not sure what critics will say. Batman v Superman was disappointing however redeemed by its ultimate cut, shame about the terrible Suicide Squad though. I think Roger Ebert (Who ever replaced him) said it best:

There are a few brilliantly realized moments, the acting is mostly strong despite the weak script (Affleck and Cavill are both superb—Affleck unexpectedly so), and there's enough mythic raw material sunk deep in every scene that you can piece together a classic in your mind if you're feeling charitable; but if you aren't, “Batman v Superman” will seem like a missed opportunity.

His career has certainty been on the rise since 2007 and i suspect that Live by Night will return him to the Oscars.

You question my normality because I'm happy.

It looks good to me. A lot of people are already saying this will be a sure contender for Best Cinematography and i agree as this looks fantastic.

I don't really think BvS was a step back even though Critics slaughtered the movie, the one thing a lot of people liked was Ben's Batman and his performance.

With La La Land, Nocturnal Animals and Silence on the competition, Live By Night will probably be left aside.

reply

Silence hasn't even gotten any reviews yet. That could be one of Scorsese's underwhelming films (though I verily hope it won't be).

Nocturnal animals was masterfully shot!

Agreed. I'm now a Tom Ford fan.

My boy's wicked smart.

It's just a teaser trailer. Hard to draw how good the movie will be from that.
