affleck didn't make it for awards

Reviews are embargoed until December

“This was not a movie where I was like, ‘C’mon, we’re gonna win Best Picture,'” he said in a Broadcast Film Critics Association Q&A that followed the screening. “This was a more crowd-pleasing movie … that could have been made in the ’70s, or even the ’40s.”

it seems that dude who wrote the article loved it
the film is a fast-paced showcase for production designer Jess Gonchor, costume designer Jacqueline West, cinematographer Robert Richardson and editor William Goldenberg, all of whom could get awards attention.

You're right, it sounds as if he enjoyed the movie. I'm dropping my expectations to around 75% on Rotten Tomatoes which is still a good, suitable score. I hope that i love it.

My boy's wicked smart.

Most likely it could end up like Lawless or Public Enemies, both of which have scores in the 60s but I thought were really great.

The villainy you teach me I will execute-and it shall go hard but I will better the instruction.
