SPOILER ALERT. I thought this was great,& a possible "cult classic"

This was a great gangsta movie.Interesting story,excellent costumes & set pieces,some nice twists,even underrated dark humour (Especially dealing with the KKK),and of course great action that wasn't non-stop either - I LOVED the shoot out near the end in the house.That was epic.

SPOILER ALERT: My only major complaint.Personally,I would have ended the movie earlier.Straight after the EPIC shoot out in the house,with Affleck's character walking out after giving up "the life",and then credits roll.My reasons include: Would have been good to leave some aspects up to the viewer.Including: No need to see Siera Miller's character again.To me he had already "moved on" in my eyes to his wife,and that Miller was "already dead" because he had mourned that loss and moved on.But this could have been left up to the viewer to decide.Plus it was too predictable that his wife was going to die,after the focus shifted to her near the end.And cause his son then was only an after thought in screen time,it was a character introduced so quickly at the end,he was meaningless.

Other than that.I predict a future "cult classic" and rightly so - Box Office Failure (Shouldn't have been). Negative critic reviews (Way better than they said). A good to great solid period piece gangsta flick.

I also loved the movie. I don't get the hate.

But yes, your end would be much, much better. Affleck was wrong in trying to keep the book's ending.

Nice to hear you loved it too.

I don't really get the hate either.My only possible thought is critics now have such a huge unrealistic and unfair expectation on Ben Affleck directed movies,that they demand/expect perfection and to be best picture Oscar worthy.Anything less and they won't be happy.I found this to be a flat out fun gangsta movie.

Thanks for liking my thoughts on the ending - Also the ending we got seemed added on and out of place.Hence showing that yes sometimes these book endings don't go well/fit in a movie context.
