postcard

interested in thoughts on the postcard mailed early in the film that shows up in the last scene. What was in it do you think?

I actually missed it and only saw in the ending From Virginia. Who is it from and what does it mean or can mean?

Dwight sent it on the drive in; we can infer from the diner scene that it probably just mentioned that Wade was released from prison, and the card itself telling her that he's back in the state.

I have another ingredient in my interpretation: He also had just noticed that closed circuit cameras were watching him browse guns and count money. Had he just walked out at that point, it would appear extremely suspicious if that footage were ever analyzed. I mean he's driving a bullet-riddled vehicle, paying cash, ratty appearance, etc...

So the postcard was also a bit of a CYA (Cover Your A$s)... he made it a POINT, I think--not only to buy something other than a gun, but to make it a postcard and a stamp, and mail it (which means a record exists that he mailed the postcard he bought).

Thanks imdb, for the longest list of ignored users in any board ever! 137 and counting!

I thought maybe it was the film's way of commenting on how drastically things can change in the time it takes a postcard to be delivered.
