be ready to Fast-Fwd thru long sections

But it does have its moments & Ben was one of the best characters I've seen in a long time.

you're a *beep* moron.

reply

You're perturbed because now you have to put down your jagermeister & redbull and get up off your lard-ass to fast-fwd. Such a shame.

reply

You're the one suggesting you have no attention span. What you're saying makes no sense at all.

Be ready to ignore people like the OP

Civil answer: I honestly didn't feel that way. It was less than an hour and a half long and I felt the long, quiet passages were propelled by the overall tension.

I would have thought also that an intelligent movie like this would have attracted a more cerebral audience than the abusive people replying to the OP.

No Guru, No Method, No Teacher.

but the opening 4 minutes were 8 minutes long and there were a couple other 3 minute scenes that were 5 minutes long. Normally, that wouldn't bother me, but there just wasn't enough THERE there to make it work.

As for tension, sorry, I didn't feel much. That is why when the 2 rednecks drove up to his sister's house and he started running around, I got the bad feeling that we were about to see "Home Alone: Rednecks in Virginia." I did enjoy the film but it is hard to feel real tension when nobody in the film seems to have an IQ over 100 (or EQ either). His gun-nut friend was eventually the exception to that. I guess that is why I liked him so much. He was almost nutty, but in a normal way, not in a dumb-ass-redneck way.

You're right about the movie but you underestimate imdb's ability to attract film-school dropouts who flame at anybody who doesn't like "their" films.

reply

Most of you should shut the fück up. There is almost nothing more insufferable than people who respond to criticism of a movie they like with pretentious crap like "put down your jagermeister and red bull" and "go watch Transformers." He thinks it's too slow, who cares? Did you direct it?

The people calling him a moron are the real morons.

reply

we care to tell him he's a moron because we are frustrated at the fact that some human being have not the skills to understand art; But you'r right there's nothing we can do about it hence the insult to express our sorrows.
It's like giving confiture to pigs as we say. If you give caviar or champagne to some homeless crazy guy chances are he'd rather have an hamburger. And there's nothing here we can do about that. Education system fails on some people just because they are inherently not built for it. They should just refrain from commenting things but occidental society tends to force them to. so they feel like they have the moral right to do so.
As such there will always be insults on imdb forums unless websites start implementing IQ and culture test prior signing on.

Michael Bay is the new Dr Frankenstein...he's created generations of mind-less give-it-to-me-now-cant-go-5-seconds-without-an-explosion monsters roaming the malls

reply

Christ, you are a pretentious twat.

An IQ and culture test?

In other words, everyone must be at least as smart and as sophisticated as you are in order to come here and have insufferable arguments about movies. Or to put it another way, your personal taste is the correct one.

Also, people who don't like a movie you like are also unintelligent, apparently.

Why do you even give a crap if a complete stranger hates a movie you do? Is there less movie left for you?

If anything, you should appreciate people with the OP's taste, since it gives you a chance to brag about your apparently intellectual and cultural superiority.

So you should just thank the OP, you twit.

reply

No...I think they're just better at detecting trolls than you are.

reply

Ben was awesome! He was the only rational character in the whole film. The man's got 13 acres, he's doing something right!

reply

Typical instant gratification mentality...can't sustain attention beyond a few mins.

reply

Nobody serious about movies fast-forward them.
