What's to Expect in the Sequel?
Since 20th Century Fox had spilled the beans on what the status of RIO 2 may be, well, it's OFFICIALLY on track. No more rumors, it's REAL.
Most of us RIO fans have already known that a sequel to the original would happen eventually, and it did. Most of the main cast are indeed returning: Jesse Eisenberg (Blu), Anne Hathaway (Jewel), Jamie Foxx (Nico), will.i.am (Pedro), George Lopez (Rafael), Leslie Mann (Linda Gunderson), Rodrigo Santoro (Tulio Monteiro), and Jake T. Austin (Fernando).
A new plot, new setting, new characters, and yes, even new music/songs by the great Sergio Mendes (alongside new music artists). With talented singers/performers like Bruno Mars, Rachel Crow (Season 1's U.S. X Factor), and Kristin Chenoweth joining in, we'll be expecting some brand new music vibes with these additions sharing it with the original cast.
We've seen all the beautiful suburban/urban sights director Carlos Saldanha had shown of his hometown in Brazil, but most of us fans have yet to see how tranquil and luscious the Rio Amazon is like (via CGI). Perhaps, even show us the new subplot of the FIFA World Cup. Carnaval is behind us, and soccer is now in.
Hey, Anne Hathaway (Jewel) has OFFICIALLY won her Oscar trophy for Best Supporting Actress for the musical-drama "Les Miserables." Perhaps, the Fox executives and Blue Sky crew can work that success around for her animated character. Not to mention former X Factor contestant Rachel Crow will be portraying the only daughter of Blu and Jewel among their three kids.
Like mother, like daughter... The hype is just slowly building...
