it's cool but we don't need a sequel

I think the movie "Rio" is awsome. Nice work. But a sequel? The story is already ending. So why a sequel if there was already a happy end?

I'm giving this sequel a shot. RIO basically focused on going out on an adventure and overcoming any insecurities (like being unable to fly). RIO 2 now focuses on venturing into new terrain as well as the parenting skills between Spix Macaws Blu and Jewel.

reply

Exactly. It'll take us into the jungle (which was allocated precious little focus in the original), and show what life will be like for Blu there.

Dublin premier is Noah this week.

On topic, i'd watch it; but to rent circumstances.

Stop using cap lock please.

This definitely didn't need a sequel, but it's an animated movie so it will make money regardless.

I've already heard parents say they think it looks bad but their kids want to see it so they have to take them, which just means the kids are spoiled.

OP, I don't think is coincidental they are releasing a movie titled Rio on the exact same year Brazil is hosting the football world cup. I agree with you that no sequel was needed, they probably felt this was a good year to milk a lot of cash from a Rio sequel.

I too loved the first Rio, a lot more than I expected (I think that was the general consensus too). I also don't think it needed a sequel, although I liked the sequel well enough, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first.

However, a sequel makes a lot of sense. The first film came out in either February or March, and was the biggest opening of the calendar year up until that point. I believe it made 70 or 80mil dollars, which is a pretty big feat for a non-Disney, non-sequel animated film.

Normally, I like seeing sequels to animated films, but honestly, this one shouldn't have been made. It was pretty awful and doesn't hold a candle to the first.

Because while Rio did okay in the USA,overseas this movie made a butt load of money! Of course they are going to make another one, even if the story seemed complete.
