I remember the days when everyone used to hate Microsoft and Bill Gates

Except me. I never liked Apple and watching this movie made me like the company even less even though I find myself similar to Jobs in some ways but less of an *beep* or sociopath(I am not rich enough yet...). I used to always tell people that MS isn't that bad and that at less Gates gives so much to charity and not because it is just good PR. I barely hear anything about Apple or Jobs giving away their fortunes to the unfortunate. They just overcharge us for "pretty" devices. The ultimate A-hole move was when he didn't give his co-founders any stock and how he denied his child. What a miserable lonely man he was...

I use both apple and microsoft products (typing this from windows with my iphone next to me) and I think theyre both great in different ways. Apple is a bit easier to use once you learn it though. But after this movie I barely want to support apple at all to be honest with you, Ive always known theyre cheap as hell (I think everybody with some sort of apple product do) but knowing im actually supporting this douche is just.. urgh.

"this douche"???

If by "this douche" you mean Steve Jobs, you're not supporting him anymore, because he died back in October, 2011. And for several years before his death his salary was $1 a year. So unless you've been a mac user for many years, (and I mean purchasing more than just an iPod) I'm not sure how much supporting you actually did.

Their products are not "cheap as hell". They're actually quite well made. I've been using Apple products 15 years now and I've never had a hardware issue with any of them. Ever.

And, for anyone who didn't know, you don't climb the ranks of big business without kissing the right ass, being ruthless, screwing people over, and otherwise being a hateful bastard.

His salery might have been one dollar but he mad a ton of money off of his stock from iMac until his death.

Actually the vast majority of his wealth is from his ownership in Pixar. He didn't have many shares in Apple.

everyone still hates microsoft (Bill gates is a great guy btw, he really is and is much more deserving attention than Jobs). Its just that their product is still the best from the choices that exist.

It always amuses me how worked up some people get about brands/companies. Just use the products you like and stop thinking them as persons who need to be defended.

I never hate companies. But I can understand why people had such feelings towards Microsoft.

Thing is nobody remembers how slow and full of glitches Microsoft products used to be. And I am talking about very very very slow and full of glitches products.

Young people cant tell, because they have used Windows XP and have had relativelly fast PCs in the last years, but for people that actually had to work with MS products back in the day, Microsoft sucked hard.

I remember how slow were the first Office products. Microsoft Word was a piece of crap compared to Word Perfect.

And how about Windows 3.11 locking up every few minutes. Or how about so many broken promises with Windows 98, probably the worst Windows ever released. Yes worse than Vista and worse than Me. Windows 98 SE was good though.

Or how about how difficult was the documentation to even start understanding OLE 2.0 programming? The horrible and nauseating MFC (Microsoft Foundation Classes)? Watching a big company putting out such a badly designed a C++ library was sad.

ActiveX and Internet Explorer back in the day...ugh. I could go on and on, but you get the picture.

For people that had only one computer at home and did nothing but surf the web with a modem and write homework in a word processor, I guess MS was cool, but if you had to work with MS products, you really were in big problems.

Watch the better film Pirates of Silicon Valley (1999). Those two did have some business interactions not depicted in this film. While Gates was technical and a programmer at the start of Microsoft, Jobs was more of an idea man with Woz and friends doing all the technical work. The movie really got some of the facts wrong...

You can read Woz's response to some inaccuracies in film:

Also, Steve was considered a sociopath and/or bi-polar. That doesn't preclude genius idea-making in business. There are interviews and biographies about Steve, including the more recent book about him that will answer your questions.
