Steve Jobs... a pretentious idiot who takes credit from other people

... this movie makes Steve look worse. A spineless loser who screws over anyone who unfortunately comes across him... even the people who fund him. Screws over his wife refusing to pay for child support. Screws over his friends. Basically anti-social moron who admits he cannot work with anyone and I would never work with anyone like that. Who would've ever funded him? I wouldn't have. He got lucky because he manipulated people who trusted him... I would've never fallen for it... and had it been me there talking to this Steve kid asking for $90,000 I would've laughed at his face and told him to get lost. Picks a fight with IBM and expects the investors and the board to remain calm? Wastes millions in products that are unproven? Obsesses over designs that the general population doesn't know how to navigate? This individual thinks this is profitable? How pathetic.

Then the scenes with the board meetings... I agreed with the board more than the idiotic pretentious loser Steve. Takes two years to design a product that he keeps hyping up expecting investors to remain calm while in reality they're getting nervous and trying to sell? Picks a fight with the worlds largest computing hardware/software? LOL. Costing the company millions obsessing over interface rather than hardware capabilities... operating system, etc. LOL. People tried to bring logic to this mentally unstable brat who has NOT DONE A SINGLE THING.

I like how the movie leads the audience to make the inference that Steve is a "revolutionary" or "innovators." L-O-L.

He steals all the designs from Wozniak. He steals all the cooling mechanisms from the electrician. He steals all the marketing strategies from the ex-Pepsi marketing leader. He screws over the very man who helped build Apple... then Steve gets the credit. Spinless. Coward. Stupid. Annoying. Self-entitled. I would've never taken him back.

Result: If I had been on that board I would've realized that Steve is not a logical individual. He makes impulsive decisions that cost millions of dollars, makes investors feel uncomfortable, burns way too many bridges upsetting all in his way thus destabilizing alliances ultimately created a multi-front war that he cannot possibly fight for long, he screws over his family/friends.

Steve Jobs is a over-glorified loser.

reply

Steve jobs is worthless and stole ideas from other people. End of story.

and got what he deserved in the end.

I dont. sorry to disappoint you.

Usually people who have such strong feelings against a company don't own any of the companies products. People can live without any apple products and still get all the same features anyway.

of course most of us have a IPHONe or wahtever but reading about him, seeing docus ectr..i truly think he is quite weird and arrogant

He STOLE the original ipod from creative he also had ZERO to do with the actual planning and building of the ipads and iphones also android is better then both iPad and iphone also the iphone was hardly the first or even the best smart phone there were many before it and there continues to be smart phones much much better so jobs had nothing to do with any of those devices nor are they the first of there kinds or original.

your ignorance is beyond belief. Last time I checked apple is the biggest tech company in the world sitting on 150 bil cash and just before job became interim CEO again, the company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Had steve not, sold apple stocks, he would have ended up as the richest person ever alive, just before he death( he sold all but one when he quit apple first time).
He still left most of money on the table.

Steve job is one of the greatest thinker, visionary and innovator in the history of mankind! And he proved that you do not need degrees and phd's to get it done. What you do need is passion and perseverance.

He demanded the best and expected, you to get the job done if you are man enough and the rewards were plenty once it got done.
If he was not such a great leader or a manager then, no body would be working in apple!people queue up to work at apple. Have you checked the facts?

Have you asked steve waznik, what it meant to work with steve? I do not think he has shown him in the negative ever! How about asking, bill gates himself, who has had worked 4 years with apple and also a brutal adversary in the same field. And guess what? he also happen to be the man who gave the apple the second lease of life( he did for the betterment of industry. He admired steve jobs;check the interview on you tube).

I agree he could be hard to work with and can be a serious smug. but that was needed for a reason. By being nice nothing happened easy. It was needed to go to that extra mile.

He did make some mistakes with personal no doubt and had his glitches and that what really makes him a flawed genius, but a great one nevertheless!

There is no free lunch in america. In order to do what others did not do, you have to go extra mile and there is no room to be nice. He led from the front.

He was quite young at that time but he learnt his lessons, very well in the second coming and we all saw the results!

He catapulted apple to number 1 within a decades time at an astonishing clip!

putting down an american icon shows, how less you know about the man.

I have done a decade of start up work day n night, right in the heart of bay area and I exactly know what is cooking there and what it takes to get it done!
As such there is no blue print! But there is plenty of jobs print!

They might have not done justice in this movie( looks like they did not show his trails and tribulation and what made him the man behind the veneer!)

There is nothing like the icon 'steve jobs' period!

I agree with you Sanjay_kn. Not your grammar, but your tone. ;)
The people on this board complaining about Steve jobs would probably be the people he would have fired first due to their lack of vision. They seem like a bunch of jealous children.

I think the Bill Gates would be an interesting one as well. As Jobs was trying to build something new and innovative, Gates was back-stabbing his way to the top. Granted we got the Gates Foundation in the end and I certainly wouldn't play down the important work they have done. But if Steve Jobs can be considered the Da Vinci of our generation, Gates can be considered the Andrew Carnegie of the same. If you know your history they both had flaws but eventually changed the world for the better.

reply

"...Gates was back-stabbing his way to the top..."

Wow - talk about being completely clueless! Bill Gates had more vision in the tip of his pinkie that Steve Jobs had in his whole body. While Steve Jobs was stealing other people's ideas, Bill Gates was building the world the way he and he alone saw it. He tried - countless times - to give other people the opportunity to go along for the ride but none of them had his vision so he had to do it himself. Thanks to Bill Gates everyone now has a computer. If it had been left to Steve Jobs we'd still be in the dark ages...

reply

oh my grammar! It would never be perfect. By the way, I scored 90 plus percentile in TOEFL AND GRE. oh, that was more than 13 years ago( so general understanding is that I can write n speak english!

May be now it has deteriorated. And americans think that they know eng better than the brits! oops, I did it again!).
ok, back to business at hand here.

Both are great pioneers in their own right! While steve was a better product oriented guy, bill was more a software guy! So bill was more inside than steve was and steve was more outside than bill was.

we are really splitting hair here. Both have had their corporeal and their corporates peak in the sun!

A movie about bill gates would also be in the offing soon and story need not be tragic as steves was to make one. story of msft is as compelling as appl!

we want bill to live as long as he can( cross 90 at least)as steve is no more. And he should be able to( staying away from software grind in these last 5 to 6 years was what doctor ordered. He got time to spend more time with his family).

so bottom line both are legends and they changed the world for the better!

reply

Wow, trying to read your jumbled assortment of words really hurt my brain. Are you perhaps missing letters on your keyboard? You see those red squiggly lines underneath the majority of your typing? That means bad, also known as not good.

reply

what? It took so long for you to read it? Last time, I checked it was written in english. yes, it was not meant to be be perfect english. It was colloquial and solecistic!

well, I am from bay area and I did only start up work there( and it is nothing else but mental war! Survival rate is 6 months!! I did it for nearly 100 months!). And we all revere steve jobs because, we know what it takes to get there.

Not all of us can but if you can have 1% of what jobs did, that too without going to school, then you wont do badly in your life.

He had assortments of ideas but it takes time for others to digest and make it happen!

It is no wonder even today it happens in bay area- facebook few years ago and now instagram! you must be proud it is still happening in america.

It is possible only by following mantra of steve. Dare to be different, never afraid to ask questions, never fear to try new... stuff like that!

That is the reason he never stopped inventing.

I rest my case!

I agree.

Wozniak is the real genius here. But real geniuses are usualy introverted, developing ideas in their minds, not loud and don't try to sell themselves. That was Jobs role. Jobs had to prove himself to the world since he was adopted and felt somehow unwanted (there are many dictators/politicians/entertainers/famous people in history with similar issues). His ego was so big he didn't even want to write a preword to Wozniaks own book...

Without him, Wozniaks ideas would never come to so many people...

Everyone mentions iPhones. The technology was there, Jobs just popularised it.
He is known for his so called "reality distortion field". He believed in his ideas so much, that others started believing in them as well and they became reality (human is a measurement for everything).

Similarly like Watson and Crick. They stole the DNA idea and became super famous, by popularizing the idea...without any lab work at all! Rosalind Franklin on the other hand died of cancer, performing X ray DNA diffraction analysis.

At least in Jobs case, Wozniak is the one still alive. Jobs "reality distortion field" prevented him to seek conventional medical help earlier, he rather relied on alternative medicine (through philosophy from India travels).

People are different, on some occasions their talents are brought forward resulting in revolutionary leaps of popularisation and implementations of ideas.

No, certainly not, but progress needs both Wozniaks and Jobses (or Franklins and Crick-Watsons,...)
so both should get equal praise...

reply

Before this movie, few of us had heard of Wozniak.
This movie helped 'praise' Wozniak.
It helped realize it was not a one-man-band company.

the reason it seems Jobs deserves more praise is because of this:

If a scientist discovers a cure for aids...but hides it...should we praise him/her ?
Maybe, maybe not...but we will definitely praise the person that makes sure the cure gets to the whole world.

In the end like i said, the movie did Wozniak and his friends a big favor.

reply

You are right, many people didn't know about Wozniak and it made him recognizable and a "big favor".

I don't know if I could say he was "hiding the cure for AIDS" or whatever he invented. He was just so sure no "non-geek" could ever be interested in his inventions. He didn't dare to think big. He knew how the world handles geeks. He knew, he could never break through like Jobs did, to have his charisma and confidence, make the deals Jobs did, convince and tyrannize his partners and employees the way Jobs did.

Therefore I wish there was a movie where Wozniak would be a star. Where a geek would be admired for his ingenuity. To give all the geeks more confidence in society. For geeks to make greater impact on society, to be ready to unveil their "cures for AIDS" with ease and praise and not only through such tyrannical mediators as Jobs.

Can you imagine the same number of movies where geeks would be stars as for example movies where cops/detectives are the stars? What impact that might have on society?

Many people could find a little geek in themselves, enjoy it and invent.

I know there are movies about Hawking, Nash, Touring etc, but the connotation isn't so much the praise of the modest geeks, but mainly their particular stories (Hawkings disease, Nashes disease, Tourings homosexuality) to which many people don't (want) to personify...

reply

Interesting...

Indeed,it does take charisma to carry such a revolutionary idea to the market. his idea was like a baby and the person presenting it must be able to defend it. We saw the lack of enthousiasm of the first crowd during Woz's presentation.

I believe that slowly there is a shift in media about glorifying the nowadays geeks. 'the information age alpha males' is an expression that will most likely continue growing as shows like bigbangtheory survive and movies like thesocialnetwork gross 96millions.

clearly you seem to have spotted an idea for future movies, you can be woz i will be jobs and we can make a killing.

Steve Jobs was the guiding light and driving force of Apple, not just that, he's the guy who understands where things are going, what is cool, what people like, and this is an innate gift, it was still raw in the early days and he was sometimes bad to people in his passion to pursue his dreams, without him I imagine Apple will slowly descend into mediocrity, you can't have the brilliance without the flaws.

PS Since Steve died Apple has already started to make mistakes, they're bringing out too many products that aren't clearly defined or different enough from one another, how many sizes of ipads and iphones does the market need before the consumer is confused which is which and what it's for? This is when you need a clear thinking entrepreneur to step in and say no, they need to stop listening to the marketing department before they lose their famously simple Apple clarity.

It's not just about capitalizing on the market, it's about making the market some people like and want, change the world for the better.

This is a movie about a toy-maker. He made great toys, two of which I happen to use. Microsoft has had much bigger impact on mankind than Apple. Face it. Move on.

Seeing as how Apple basically got the whole PC thing started, then they also invented the iPod and the iPhone which have revolutionized those areas as well, how do figure Microsoft has had a bigger impact than Apple?

He was a great salesman, and an innovative thinker.

other than that, he had everyone doing his dirty work.

Woz was really the leader of apple who got screwed royally

That's correct. This is basically what Steve Jobs is all about. He was a great at marketing but engineers like Woz(Apple I and ][),Jef Ruskin(Macintosh) and Jonathan Ive(iPod)have to do the dirty work.

reply

not to mention he stole the ipad from microsoft but ofc they only included the "microsoft copied apple" part (which they didnt even explain later? you basically have to know about both jobs and gates to get the proper story).

seeing how he was in this movie explains alot about apple (im an iphone user myself).

ultimately created a multi- front war that he cannot possibly fight for long
