Why would someone so rich not spent every freaking penny on a cure for his disease? I do not understand this man or any other man or woman that dies with that much money...you can't take it with you...why not blow ALL of it on a cure?
Because he ignored it for far too long and then when he realised the severity of it, he was too late. And Steve Jobs was never about blowing his money because h had it.
He should of relaxed and enjoy his life, when he found out he had cancer, but want did this moron do after doctors told him that the cancer is under controlled and maby gone, he continued to work and work his way into a grave.
Couldn't he put out a bounty to the smartest scientists on earth and whoever found the cure would be rewarded? and provide whatever resources are needed for testing. you don't think that would be enough incentive?
There is no cure for cancer, cancer comes and goes and has a 50/50 chance it may kill you, so its just better to live like there is no tomorrow, when you have billion in the bank, thats what steve should of been doing, but he was a sociopath, he enjoyed being worship, like a god, now he is sitting in the back of the line, in heaven or hell with all the other morons who think they were gods to people.
"cancer comes and goes and has a 50/50 chance it may kill you"
You really need to learn more about cancer before making comments like that. Cancer isn't one single illness and the cure rate varies from as high as 98% for an early stage testicular cancer to 0% for many cancers if they are discovered late in their development.
Jobs actually had a very rare form of pancreatic cancer that is largely cureable if caught early enough, which his was.
The doctors were trying to push him to get the surgery that would have probably saved his life, but instead Jobs insisted he could cure himself with "all natural" treatments and a vegan diet. He actually did put a lot of money into developing a personalized healthcare plan for himself.
Unfortunatly none of that crap works and the cancer was left free to spread for almost a year before they finally convinced him to get surgery. By then it was too late.
I don't think it's really much money, 100s of billions are being spent. He could have invested in a new area, like transferring his mind into a computer...who knows, he might have even done it
People are already investing in that type of technology, but to no avail yet...or for MANT years. Jobs didn't have time on his side with the kind of cancer that he had. He had a decent chance of beating it in the beginning, but decided to try naturopathic techniques that were unproven.
After that didn't work, it was too late. I believe Jobs is quoted as saying it was "the biggest mistake" of his life. I say yes to that...and ignoring his daughter and screwing over his start-up friends.
