Why were Christy and Mitch staying at the hospital after the baby was born, its not like Christy gave birth, I mean I assume he was healthy and had nothing wrong with him so why didn't they take him home on the day he was born, I know of women who have actually given birth unlike Christy who didn't and gone home 2 to 3 hours later its not unheard of.
shareI'm assuming they wanted to keep the baby overnight to monitor, just to be safe. When you have a child, normally they keep the mothers and the baby's overnight just for medical observation, but I would guess that with the mother's mental state at the time of delivery they wanted to be completely assured it did not not effect the baby negatively.
Of course this is based solely on my personal opinion, I couldn't give you a definitive answer as to why they would keep the baby in this particular situation.
