so many unanswered questions about Curtis Vaughn

This nomadic gambler who travels around the country going on adventures. Except while he shares so many characteristics of a compulsive gambler he doesn't do too much gambling. As soon as he hits a 48 to 1 on his 50 he wants to stop. He plays relatively low stakes. 50 on a dog race, 60 dollar poker tournament, nothing too big.

He has a reckless abandon for his own personal safety. The pool hall, the basketball court. Why does he put himself in those situations? Was it guilt on the basketball court? Then why did he do it at the pool hall?

What's the deal with him and sienna miller? He calls her to proclaim his love and I really do believe he cares for her, but he hits on every woman he can after showing such strong attachment for her. I believe if the girl at the counter said yes to Peru he really would have taken her.

My theory is that he prefers to gamble on people. There was on telling scene between him and Sienna Miller where she says something like "where did you find this one?" and they mention Jorge. I think he's met several guys like Gerry and with each one he was hoping they would hit it big. Maybe Tony Roundtree was one.

The idea of Peru is strange. He mentions it to everyone. What does he hope to find in Peru? Escape? Salvation? Gerry's character is a stereotypical compulsive gambler. But Ryan Reynolds is some enigma.

A great post I agree 100% and also spotted the Sienna Miller conversation. I think what we are supposed to take from him is the fact that he is lonely. He likes low stakes because hes not really a huge gambler he wants a friend and company. He is estranged from his mother and probably even more so than his dad. He is obviously frustrated with the hand hes ended up with and thinks he could have been so much more. He's frustrated. The basketball scene I didn't get. Was it guilt. I don't know. I'm confused by that scene

I think he wanted a shiner for when he met his mother, he said on the court that he had intimacy issues.

Machun Picchu is a fabled city of gold. Ryan Reynolds is the muse, playing a leprechaun. The pot of gold would be home.
