Frances: the fool archtype
Frances is a fool in a fool's paradise. That's what I'm getting.

What is the point of this whole thread? It seems foolish. Would you prefer to be a genius in hell or a fool in paradise? The things she says are no more foolish than the things most people say.

And the things that she does are no more foolish than most people do thru out life.
shareThat seems like a fairly accurate summary. Frances is definitely immature, myopic, and living an unsustainable lifestyle, and while the film has a bit of fun with that, it does seem ultimately to fall more on the side of glorifying her behavior than condemning it. She grows very slightly by the end of the film, but it feels like only a small first step of the thousand required to get to a realistic adult life.
