Common Thread at the Crime Scenes (Spoilers)

How did the FBI and law enforcement not notice the lifelike and look-a-like dolls with metal balls in their heads at the murder scenes? They should have stood out but it didn't seem like they knew of them until they found the doll of the survivor. It's possible I missed something related to the dolls. Is the argument the devil manipulated everyone in to not noticing them?

What was the significance of the devil letting the woman in the hospital live?

Why was Agent Carter putting all the blame on Harker for Longlegs killing himself? He was being filmed and Carter could have stepped in. Was this supposed to be another of the Devil's manipulations? There's more incongruities in the movie but I guess they can all be waved away with the devil was the reason.

The atmosphere, cinematography and scenery was great. Things happened that seemed to be there for the sole purpose of tricking or or misleading the audience vs. having a purpose within the narrative.

I think the Mom stuck around and took them away once the deed was done

I believe you are correct. the first doll they found was the one that was under the barn's floorboards and that was only after Longlegs wanted it to be found.

Yes to manipulation. The doll at the barn seemed to have an effect on everyone who was near it.

As for Carter's blame, that felt a bit overboard. Okay, they'd lost a major player, but Longlegs had mentioned the mother as the one to speak to next.
