Uneven, but had it's moments

Just saw Parkland. It had it's moments, but basically uneven film about the peripheral characters such as Robert Oswald, James Hosty, Zapruder, the doctor, etc. Definitely had the framework of a good film, but misses the mark. I did appreciate the scenes focused on Robert, the funeral, etc. Margarite was played way over the top for extra effect. Main criticism is it's a series of disjointed and in effect unrelated vignettes, probably influenced by such films as Traffic. Not my type of filmmaking, though the subject matter of course held my attention

I decided to watch this after watching JFK.

It's perhaps unfair to compare the two, but for starters I found the directing in the film awful. Other than the scene where JFK arrived at the hospital, very little else held my attention. It felt like a load of random fly-on-the-wall style shots badly edited together with no real thought-out timeline or order to them.

Also, the fact that you never properly see the assination footage is ridiculous. One could argue it 'wasn't needed', but the fact that they included loads of hints and arty shots around it was quite irritating. Either put it in properly, or leave it out completely and JUST focus on the aftermath.

Overall was very disappointed. It was as though they'd found a book with a load of pages missing and just said "that's OK, we've got enough to work with I think - that's just focus on what IS here..."
