Did We Really Need Another JFK Movie?
Going by the box office outcome, no we didn't.
shareIt was a limited release. It wasn't going to make money.

Do we "need" another one? No.
But it's an interesting topic and the commercial failure of 'Parkland' shouldn't be used as an example of why more 'JFK' assassination related films need not be made.
David Mamet supposedly has a JFK-assassination related film in the works and Leonardo DiCaprio has signed onto a JFK assassination related project as well...
Oh god. Another one.
shareI think we did need this movie because it wasn't about the assassination itself, but rather, about people'e reactions to it. And therefore also about the role in US culture and history of Kennedy and his death. The Kennedy mystique encapsulated lots of themes about this country. It's worth examining in all its facets imo.
Also there's just the aspect of how people behave in extraordinary circumstances and that's always interesting.
Exactly what I'm going to say.
It is an interesting film in my opinion.
My only criticism about 'Parkland' is, how could they give the movie that title while ignoring all the unresolved controversies that stem from the witnesses and staff at Parkland hospital? The discrepancies over the descriptions and locations of the wounds, the finding of the "Magic Bullet" on a stretcher, the alleged Jack Ruby sighting at Parkland moments after the assassination. If the producers of the film felt uncomfortable about acknowledging those controversies, perhaps they should have given the film a different title...
shareInteresting film but they didn't really take a stand on a viewpoint which maybe is good but it comes off as a little uneventful with lots of loose ends. And all you sheep bitching about another JFK film, just keep living your selfish little lives while the government lies to your faces over and over again. Don't question anything, don't think for yourselves. This country has been going down hill since the day this happened.
shareVery well said Ashaod43. I agree with your comments about the sheeple and the slow disintegration of this country. I did like this film because although it didn't put forth any opinions it was more a cause and effect movie which made it different than the movie that have already been made.
shareDavid Mamet supposedly has a JFK-assassination related film in the worksI can only imagine the dialogue that movie will have.
