Katie should stop drinking Heavily

I'm no doctor or addiction specialist. Even if I were, I wouldn't diagnose someone with alcoholism (not even James Kennedy) based on a "reality" show.
In my opinion, there is a difference between being an actual alcoholic and being someone who is just a really bad drunk. If I were to guess, I would guess Katie is a really bad drunk. I think she can have a couple drinks and be fine, and is capable of not reaching for that third or fourth drink if she sets her mind to it. However, despite all the social consequences and humiliation on national television she has had from drinking, she contuse to drink heavily. I think she should stop.

-Her two longtime best friends Stassi and Kristen can confirm Katie can be extremely cruel when drunk
-One of her husbands main hesitation about marrying her is how verbally abusive she is to him when when drunk, and has said that he is scared of her when drunk and the frequent rage texts freak him out.
-Her Close friend Scheana has said that despite that they were best friends at one point, when they were their closest she was a frequent victim of the "Tequila Katie" rage texts

Katie should really put herself at a two, MAYBE three drink Limit. If she finds that it is difficult or impossible to cut herself off after hitting her limit, she she stop all together. If stoping on her own is something she finds she can't do,, there is no shame in having someone help you with not drinking.

The saddest thing is that if Kate, who (when sober) seems like one of the more level headed cast members is willing to behave this way during the part of the year she is filming a reality show, it's likely that she is even worse and drinks even more often when the show is not in production. She's done a pretty good job of not getting really drunk on camera after that one time in season 2, but has clearly been behaving the same when not on camera but still fighting with people via text just as badly.

I think Katie is an alcoholic.

If Katie can't control her drinking and drinks all the time, then she probably has a problem....

They all have a problem! Jax just had a procedure and the doctor told him to lay off booze for a while! Never happened; chugging the very next day on vacation with the guys in the motorhome! What an idiot; with his "enablers!"  

It explains the weight gain as well with Katie. Her closest friends have all vouched for her behavior, I don't understand why she is not taking their concerns seriously, especially Tom indicating she has a problem.

I think she has deeper more troubling issues to resolve, and it has less to do with her drinking. I obviously don't know her and I could be completely wrong, but I think she deals with some depression, some self hatred and real anger issues that are unresolved. She keeps them suppressed and then when she drinks and looses control of herself and her guard, they come flying out like a bat out of hell. It's similar to the movie Manchester By The Sea, i'm not sure if you saw that. Casey Affleck's character in that deals with intense intense depression and anger, and throughout his day to day life he keeps a tight lid on it, but when he drinks, he explodes into rage black outs where he destroys himself and other people around him. I don't know Katie personally of course but it seems like she is similar, albeit way less intense than the character from the movie (he's suicidal and completely out of control in the film). I wouldn't be surprised if she had some depression/anger/self loathing that existed deep down below the surface, and alcohol is what brings those issues to the surface. She (along with basically everyone on the show) should see a therapist and try and get these issues resolved. Alcohol is just what lets these demons out of the bag, but not necessarily the problem itself. Just my opinion though...

Some people shouldn't drink alcohol. I think Katie is one of those people.
