I Just Saw This
This was an OK movie. It's about a man who goes into a store to buy a pie. He leaves his daughter Cassie in the back cab of his pickup truck. When he returns she's gone. He and his wife, though still together, have a very rocky relationship since she blames him for Cassie's kidnapping. For 8 years, he's looking for her.
Everyone in the movie did a great job with the roles. The problem with the movie was the at-times hard to follow timeline. In one scene, they had Rosario Dawson captive in a van. In the very next scene, she was in a hotel room talking with some of the other characters. A simple subtitle of "2 days earlier," or whenever the hotel room scene took place, would've been helpful, and they did that a number of times throughout the mvie. Whoever edited the movie should've been
fired.Plus, the flow of the movie was...well, there really wasn't much of a flow. It was very, very slow. It's almost 2 hrs long, and they easily could have cut out 30-40 minutes. This reminded me a lot of Hugh Jackman's "Prisoners" from 2013. That was another movie about a kidnapping, and Jackman was a father determined to get back his child. Like "The Captive," that movie was way too long for what the subject matter demanded, but it was a better movie - IMO.
