Horrible mess
What a POS. Something must've happened during production/post-production. Don't really feel like calling out the myriad of problems. I guess I'd write more if someone's up for a discussion.

shareThe editing. What the *beep*. What's the point of jumping from time to time like that? There was zero need for it.
shareEspecially since Ryan Reynold's look was so similar eight years later. He needed to not have the beard when she's abducted, then with the beard eight years later.
Which is why I suspect the non-linear editing wasn't part of the original plan. I was regularly confused about where we were in the timeline, which totally pulled me out of it.
That makes sense. Someone dumped the bed big time. Too many plot holes and the non-linear presentation was horrific.
shareNon linear films are a hallmark of Atom Egoyan's storytelling. I enjoy his films more upon second or third viewing. My favorite is "The Sweet Hereafter."
Just sayin'
"'Scuse me while I whip this out"
Blazing Saddles
They're high risk/high reward. David Lynch has pulled it off. Enemy with Gylenhaal may have been non-linear although it's not clear.
