WHat was Bruce Greenwood's role in this movie?

He acts odd when he meets the detective at the
event"..are we supposed to assume HE is also part of this child porno ring?I think this movie had potential but it's like the director LEFT 20 mins into it and some other asshat just threw scenes together until someone called TIME!

Yeah, pretty sure it was implied that he was also involved.

It seems like the movie was edited to heck. Which is weird, since it wasn't even 2 hrs. 10 or 20 min would have made a huge difference in fleshing some things out.

His behaviour seemed to indicate that Vince was involved and we know that he was Mika's boss, but there doesn't appear to be any follow-up at all on this narrative thread in the rush to conclude the film and get Cassie skating again.🐭

In the DVD director's commentary, Egoyan says it was deliberately left open whether the Bruce Greenwood character and/or his wife played by Arsinée Khanjian were part of the pedophile ring or not.

The film was inspired by a real-life cluster of child-sexual-assault cases in Cornwall, Ontario; the provincial government held a lengthy public inquiry which came to no firm conclusion as to whether there was an organized "ring" of pedophiles or just isolated cases. Read this article for some more detail: http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/2009/12/16/huge_inquiry_fails_to_find_pedophile_ring_in_cornwall.html

In the movie, Egoyan deliberately drops some hints that the conspiracy might extend far into the community, and then deliberately does not confirm this, as an analogue for the situation in real life where we still don't know for sure whether there was a conspiracy in Cornwall.

At one point his character seemed to be trying to help Nicole (Rosario Dawson) out by yawning which stopped her from sharing too much about the police work being done on the case with Mika. Having him there with no follow up is as random as a lot of other parts of this movie. I don't usually like remakes but this film could have been awesome with better directing, editing, and a few tweaks to the script.

I think so, he said he treated him like a son, not a friend, it was a strange comment.

He tells him not to treat others as friends, there is a level of intimacy between fake father-sons more so than casual friends.

Then the callous "take the pictures" scene. And the yawn, which made me think that he was given her a cue to be tired, as yawning is contagious.

Plus his wife was truly bizarre.

I think Bruce Greenwood is a great actor. But he was probably there mainly to up the percentage of Canadians in speaking roles. Gotta get those tax breaks!
