Not As Bad As Some People Think

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, if you don't like it you don't like it.
I just watched it VOD, I thought it was okay. It's an unusual story, but it's consistent with the kind of movie the director makes, like Exotica, Amanda Seyfried's Chloe and others.
One thing I thought was really good was the cinematography, the way it was shot.
Especially in the scene when Reynold's goes in the diner for the pie, and camera moves in on the diner.
Kevin Durand, as the bad guy, usually plays tough guys, here plays a kind of goofy nerd, I thought it was a good performance.
I thought all the actors gave good performances, even though Scott Speedman plays a cop who stupidly suspects Ryan Reynolds.
I also dug the interesting looking female accomplice Christine Horne, who in her black wig I thought she might be Asian, until she takes it off after kidnapping Rosario Dawson.

I use to like Kevin Durand back in Dark Angel, but now I'm tired of seeing him in everything...

I agree - not a bad movie (well at least not until I see people hashing over all the plot holes (ironically echoing my signature here)). The cinematography was great in a completely snowy world, and the musical score was one of the best I've heard in a while.

~After enjoying that movie, I figured I would drop by IMDB to read about its problems.

The problem was that half the film was a really interesting art-house flick. The other was a brain-dead thriller.

I know it's possible to combine the two - other movies have done it - but that didn't happen at all here.
