Interesting debut, but it didn't leave an impression overall.

The director had a good eye for shots and there were some very good moments. I was even fine with the lethargic pace. One problem I had was with the leads. Neither lead character was bad. In fact, I could have watched a movie that was just about either character. For me, the characters actually sucked the energy out of each other's stories. I understand the importance of character development, but it somehow backfired here. In the end, I really wanted the vampire movie to just be about the vampire.

Both actors were solid and cut striking figures. I look forward to future films from this director. This one just didn't work completely for me.
