Pity it's not filmed in Iran
I started watching this film assuming that it's filmed in Iran. When I saw a woman without a hijab (head scarf), I thought: "Wow, these filmmakers were really brave". But when I saw the naked girl in the bath, it was clear to me: "There's no way it's filmed in Iran".
That's a pity. The film would have been really brave and interesting if it had been made in Iran. But now, well, a logical question is: what was even the point of pretending like it was happening in Iran? Why not just make it into an American film in English language? Was the film trying to be critical of Iranian society or the treatment of women in Iran? Perhaps a little, but such criticism was not very obvious. I think, the filmmakers should have stressed the Iranian elements a bit more. Now it seems like they just wanted to make a cool Jim Jarmush meets Quentin Tarantino type of film and, hey, let's pretend like it's all happening in Iran, because that way it would look much more original.
