So I literally pressed play and the kid uttered the first line in the movie, and I thought, "*beep*! this kid is gonna be annoying."

Right?! I really hated this kid, he was awful! If Mom would have just put a little discipline to use, I think most of their issues would have been taken care of.

I heard an interesting theory he acted that way, because the babadook isn't real. Its his mom suffering from split personalities. He wants his real mom back and reacts the way he does from her view keeping the split hidden.

Some people seem to have an inability to separate the "character" from the actor.
For a young kid he embraced the character rather well.
Comments from the cast suggest that he is really a sweet kid and was a pleasure to work with.
