Good... But...

This movie is a lot more just plain fascinating than actually effective as a horror movie. Obviously, not least because the town it's set in is "Talbot Falls", it owes a lot to The Wolfman (1941) but there's also a lot to remind me of The Werewolf, a minor 1956 film that has a really excellent performance by an actor portraying a tormented werewolf.

The movie meanders and there is a segment where the conflicted man who is a werewolf, gets a lift in one direction, decides he doesn't need to go there, gets out and gets a ride in the opposite direction. Each ride includes a significant conversation with the driver and that's the sort of thing you should expect a lot of. There are loads of great character moments and others that just... happen. I like it and enjoyed both the predictable moments and the odd surprises.

By the way, this film includes a very old fashioned style of wolfman so, no serious prosthetics and no cgi.
