If they didn't use spiders i would have loved this movie.

This is my kind of movie. To the naked eye it seems about nothing but if you look deeper, pretty much everything has a meaning ready to be found.
But as an arachnophobe i had to physically force myself to finish the movie.
I had to stop watching the movie on my projector screen and continue watching it on my, much smaller, TV.... It's that bad.
Don't get me wrong, i think the spiders work wonderfully for the story, but after the first scene (which made me jump out of my chair btw), i was focusing more about the fear of seeing another spider than the actual movie.
Any other arachnophobes made it to the end alive?

(At this point, i'm better off downloading the digital copy that came with my bluray and edit those mother*****rs out so i can watch this movie again in peace)

I'm not an arachnophobe but they do bother me in excess. Just how many are we talking about? For me sometimes it's not just the fact that I see spiders but the way they are presented.

The first scene was difficult to watch, but the last scene was out of this world. I can't put my reaction to it in words. I gasped very loudly and it literally shook my whole body. I was in shock for the next few minutes and couldn't calm myself for the next few hours. This movie - omg! Not for people with arachnophobia. Seriously can't recommend it although I loved the story, the way it was shot, soundtrack and editing...

I find spiders fascinating. The fear may be part of it.
I saw this movie on a small laptop, and got through it fine until the last scene, where I instantly pushed my computer away. Then I made the movie-window as small as possible and turned the screen-light to minimum so I wouldn't see too many details, and finished it.
How did you feel about the mother-spider, towering over the city? In the far-away-shot I thought it was just smoke from chimneys, but I thought "huh, kinda looks like a spider," then we got closer, and I realized it was actually a spider, but I thought it was pretty cool. The legs weren't that spider-like, and the body was vague enough, so that one didn't scare me.
I'm glad there weren't that many spider-scenes in the movie. It does require some effort to calm the nerves, so any more would probably have worn me out.

After the first seconds, surprisingly it didn't bother me too much.
Maybe because it was shot from a distance, or because it looked a little fake, or because it didn't seem like it was going "in my face", but i got through easily.

The girl in the hallway with the spider head was also OK, but i was really worried she was going to jump in front of the lens the entire time.

The first spider and the last one were REALLY unsettling.
The first because it was a close-up and 100% unexpected, the last one was expected but it's so fu***ng huge and it's so detailed it looks too real. (during the last frames when the spider crawls into herself i thought she was going to jump and i had to close my eyes, i couldn't take it anymore.
If i kept watching the movie in my home theatre screen i'm pretty sure that last scene would have made me *beep* myself, i had to make the window as small as possible too, i feel your pain)

I'm not afraid of spiders and the spiders in this film terrified me. As an arachnophobe, I can't imagine what that last scene did to you.
