These are films with an IMDb rating of below 7 that I've rated above 7:
The Majestic Constantine Big Nothing Unstoppable Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time John Carter The Grandmaster The Good Girl RoboCop (2014) Stuck on You (re-rated 7 recently)
UPDATE:
Baarìa (2009) Così è la vita (1998) Don't Tell (2005) Suddenly Paradise (2003) The Cyclone (1996) (I love Italian films) Upstream Color (2013) Green Card (1990) Mr. Bean's Holiday (2007) Words and Pictures (2013) Magic in the Moonlight (2014) The Zero Theorem (2013) Love & Other Drugs (2010) Rob the Mob (2014) The Dilemma (2011) Anonymous (2011) Fierce Creatures (1997) The International (2009) The Signal (2014) Hulk (2003) Death Defying Acts (2007) Byzantium (2012)
I wouldn't call those masterpieces but you did have a disclaimer at the front that it was just movies you've rated higher than 7 that IMDB didn't. I like half your list, so I'll be checking out some of the other titles on it I haven't seen now because of it. Thanks!
GOTG was a kick ass flick, extremely entertaining, not a dull moment, what a roller coaster mindless blockbuster should be, nothing more nothing less, and it happened to make a sh!tload of money and showed up in the top 10 list of 2014 of the best film critics all over. I voted 10 on the stinking turd that is The Interview not because I liked it, actually when I voted I hadn't even seen that crap, I was just pissed that pussy Sony cancelled its release following threats of terrorism by that chubby Korean nut job, call it a solidarity vote against *beep*¡ng censorship, that's my excuse, what's yours for liking utter boring garbage like John Carter and Robocop? Wanna watch a fun sci fi flick, watch GOTG, wanna watch a great film about a robot cop kicking ass, watch Verhoven's Robocop.
Putting aside The Interview, you have other Seth Rogen *beep* films that you rated high as well (This is the End? Another vote of sympathy, perhaps?). To even rate Guardians highly because it was a "kick ass flick" shows exactly what your opinion on films actually is: a fleeting yearly blockbuster revered by the majority is better than a substantial film full of character development, good story, and/or good direction. What you need to realize and get your head out of your ass is to stop judging films by other people's approval and find your own standard. I don't give a *beep* if it was on critics top lists, the film was bad and I didn't like it.
As for my films, I could give you the same argument as you gave for The Interview, but I don't like to justify myself. I liked those films (especially Robocop, which fully deserves its 8 rating) and again I don't care what critics say, because to me, they're wrong.
With all that being said, we could just agree that we have different tastes in films, and that neither's is particularly bad or wrong. Opinions are opinions after all, and art is and will always be subjective. Then again, from this point on, I will firmly believe that your taste is bad, and if you recommend a movie to me, I will do my utmost to not watch it.
Not a simpathy vote at all, This is The End is one of the most fun movies I've seen in ages. It's silly extravaganza, a huge bunch of nonsense, but, fvkc, it's entertaining,a flick that is one big in-joke, but a very good one, if Prince of Persia was stupid in the bad way, This is the End is stupid in the best and funniest way. I only mentioned the HUGE success of GOTG after writing why I think it's a great flick, huge success both financially and critically, items that are clue for a film like this, were not talking about a Bella Taar or a Tarkoswky film, those guys made films for the love of the medium, were talking about a Hollywood blockbuster who was made to entertain movie goers and make insane money for its studio, two things that heap load of crap John of Mars failed miserably to do, a movie so bad it pretty much ended the career of both its director and lead star, Disney declared a $200m loss on the film, the biggest ever recorded. A badly constructed trailer for a franchise that never happened which left fans of the books disappointed, and guaranteed that Stanton will not be directing another big budget live action film for a while. He will probably stick to animation where he has a good track record. Taylor Kitsch will probably keep working, but will he ever be heading a Mega production...Never. On the other hand GOTG by itself catapulted once chunky tv actor Chris Pratt into A lister feature film stardom.
a substantial film full of character development, good story, and/or good direction
LMAO! I hope you're not talking about John Carter, you just can't be so ignis fatuus.
As for my films, I could give you the same argument as you gave for The Interview
No you can't.
I liked those films (especially Robocop, which fully deserves its 8 rating)
Jeez, kid, at least get your ratings right, that heap load of crap is rated 6.

Oh my, numbnuts that thinks John Carter and Robocop are great films, ignores me! What will I do? if your ignore list is made of all those who think your taste in movies sucks balls, it must be the size of fecking Chile.
Here are some that I enjoyed a lot more than the under 7 score would suggest (but I have strange taste, so who knows if you'd think these are as good as I did):
Art School Confidential (2006) Basquiat (1996) I Heart Huckabees (2004) The Crimson Rivers (2000) Six Degrees of Separation (1993) Hairspray (1988) The Brother from Another Planet (1984) Repo Man (1984) Night Watch (2004) Constantine (2005) Stoker (2013) Shadow of the Vampire (2000) One Hour Photo (2002) Party Monster (2003) Spider (2002) The Lovely Bones (2009) Vanilla Sky (2001) Suspect Zero (2004)
This is obviously just my option, but here are a few that I think are rated much much lower than they should be (all rated lower than 7.0)
The House of the Devil (2009) Triangle (2009) The Loved Ones(2009) Big Fan (2009) Dead End (2003) Trick r' treat (2007) The Blair Witch Project (1999) One Hour Photo (2002) Napoleon Dynamite(2004) Observe and Report(2009) Zoolander (2001) Resolution (2012) Super (2010) Adventureland (2009) Drinking Buddies (2013) Splinter (2008)
Almost all of them are horror movies, comedies, or are really dark, because for the most part, those are the movies that people seem to not "get",
I totally agree with Observe and Report. It's one of my favorites. I love films that deal with mental illness. It's actually quite dark when you look below the "cute/ funny" exterior. The huge Taxi Driver homage near the end was amazing.
Of course it's The Exorcist you idiot. Candyman! I'm still laughing about that. So many horror classics you could've gone with and you choose Candyman. Wow. Don't get me wrong, the novella is great, but it pretty much invalidates anything you have to say about knowledge of horror films.
