Why the hell didn't they hover from several hundred feet and scan the locality for life signs (As they did in Aliens)? Couldn't there have been dangerous organisms in the water, or woodland nearby? Duh.
Just re-watched it and still this is a brainless idea on an unknown and potentially dangerous [inhabited] planet?
share I was expecting them to a last have launched a drone from orbit to remotely scan the planet at the very least. I guess thats too much to expect as its now a given in modern scifi that people just instantly take of their helmets the second they land on a world with oxygen. Star trek is guilty of this by teleporting with out environmental suits but usually after some one blurts out "No harmful microbes detected captain".
Took the words right out of my mouth. They paid less attention to detail to that aspect than in Prometheus.
